Born 1990 in Flagstaff Arizona. DJ graduated from Coconino high school in 2008, after high school DJ joined the United States Air Force serving in the 736 Security Forces Squadron earning the National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal among other badges and citations. After his Honorable Discharge in 2011, DJ moved to Florida to attend Nova Southeastern University and studied Criminal Justice, graduating in 2014. Those of us who kept in touch with DJ, know that he spent as much time under the water snorkeling and scuba diving, as he spent above water studying.
After graduating, DJ moved back to Flagstaff and joined the Flagstaff Police Department in 2014. It was here that he would meet the beautiful woman that would become his wife and soul mate. Heather and DJ would become husband and wife in 2017 in a beautiful ceremony attended by family and friends from all over. DJ and Heather loved the outdoors and could often be found hiking and camping with their favorite four legged furry "children".
DJ went to be with the Lord on the 12th of March, 2019. He is survived by his wife Heather of Mesa, AZ. Parents Jack Beckwith of Flagstaff. Chantel (Eyestone) and Bill Mitchell of Parks. Brothers Josh Beckwith of Monahans, TX and Kolton Mitchell of Parks, AZ. Maternal Grandparents Rolland and Avene Eyestone of Scottsdale, AZ. Preceeded in death by Paternal Grandparents Jim and Grace Beckwith of TX. Also survived by Heathers' Mother Debbie Nichols and Brother Garrett Gallegos of Camp Verde, AZ. Also survived by Step sisters Abby Everett and Olivia Lyons. DJ is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and COUNTLESS friends who Love him very much. DJ lived his life in service of his country and community and will be greatly missed.
