Sex offender notification
The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of a registered sex offender in Ash Fork.
Roland Cruz was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in 1997 after he assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Texas.
Cruz lives at 3119 Joyce Rd.
This notification is meant to inform the public of sex offenders in the area. Harassment of sex offenders will not be tolerated.
— Clarence Baptisto was arrested at the intersection of Northwestern Street and Route 66 for an extreme DUI on Thursday.
When asked to take a field sobriety test Baptisto said, “I do not doubt I would not pass so I’ll take the DUI.”
He consented to a breathalyzer test where he recorded a BAC of 0.254 and 0.234 percent.
— Geri Derrick was arrested for a DUI at the intersection of Route 66 and San Francisco Street on Saturday after she was seen driving with her headlights off. She had a BAC of 0.129 and 0.130 percent.
— Juan Valtierra was arrested for an aggravated DUI with a suspended license on Monday at 3715 N. Kaspar Drive. He had a BAC of 0.086 and 0.093 percent.
A woman reported someone videotaping her while she was in the shower on Friday in the 90 block of East Camille Drive.
The woman said she saw a cellphone being used to record her while she was showering, but could not see who was using the phone.
When police arrived they could not find any immediate suspects.
A man was arrested for aggravated assault of a police officer, criminal damage, disorderly conduct, littering and resisting arrest after he was seen repeatedly kicking a trashcan at the Chevron gas station on Fourth Street.
When police tried to arrest him for criminal damage, the man swung his left arm at an officer’s body. The officer then hit the man in the face five times. The man responded to the punches by hitting the officer in the face with his palm. The officer then hit the man in the face again before he was finally arrested.
The man had swelling in both eyes, as well as a bloody mouth.
The man arrested was identified as Sergio Gutierrez.
