Northern Arizona had some major coaching news Wednesday regarding the soccer and football programs.
Northern Arizona’s longtime head soccer coach resigned from his position recently, according to a release sent out by the university's athletics department Wednesday afternoon. Mike Marlow, Northern Arizona vice president for intercollegiate athletics, said in the press release that Andre Luciano sent in his letter of resignation earlier this week.
“I have seen countless alumni from the soccer program become doctors, teachers and career women as well as tremendous spouses, mothers and members of their community. I leave with no regrets from NAU,” Luciano's letter to Marlow read via the release.
Luciano spent 18 years at the helm of the soccer program, accumulating a 149-150-52 record, and led the Lumberjacks to three Big Sky Conference tournament titles.
For the football program's head coaching vacancy, new reports surfaced that Boise State wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau is no longer in consideration for the job. On Tuesday, reports came out stating that Kiesau was among the top candidates for the job, but he was confirmed not to be in the running Wednesday.
Marlow has been quiet about the coaching search, having declined to comment until an announcement is set to be made.
With Kiesau out of the running, it is unclear who will take the helm of the Northern Arizona football program with the December signing period for recruits quickly approaching.
