Wayne Whitehead joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 31, 2020 in the comfort of his home. Wayne was born in Jonesville, LA to Rosie Mae and Louis Welch (deceased). He then moved to Flagstaff, AZ with his mother Rosie Mae and eldest brother Don at an early age. He attended Kinsey Elementary School and graduated from Flagstaff High School. He attended Northern Arizona University for two years after high school graduation in 1971. While attending college, Wayne worked at AJ Bayless, Bashas', Pepsi and Highline Vending for a number of years.
Wayne confessed his devotion to Christ at an early age. He was a devoted member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Superintendent. He loved all things outdoors, from fishing, hunting, camping and shared all of his outdoor passions with his beloved family and friends. He also coached and refereed and continued to be community leader and mentor to many.

After retiring, Wayne dedicated his time to being ever-present in the lives of his grandchildren and their extracurricular activities.
Wayne met the love of his life, Zorator, through a close family friend. They were married in 1975 and were married for 45 years; a true “until death do us part” union. From this union they have three children: Ahkeah, Tarrah, Ronald Wayne II. Wayne was soft spoken but lived out loud. When he entered the room people were greeted by his warm smile and calm demeanor. He gave unconditionally and would try to make any dark situation bright with his optimism and sincere concern for those around him. He was a true man of God.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father Louis Welch, sister Debra, brother Keevin, fishing buddy, best-friend and mother-in-law Shirley Armstrong. Wayne leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Zorator (Flagstaff, AZ), three children Ahkeah (Flagstaff, AZ) , Tarrah (Phoenix, AZ) and Ronnie (Aislinn, Phoenix, AZ), two grandchildren Taniyah and Marcus (Flagstaff, AZ), mother Rosie Mae and stepfather Sonny (Flagstaff, AZ), and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. His presence and love will be truly missed.
