Dale Harrison Itschner, 73, passed away on April 28th, 2018. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Shirley Itschner. He is survived by his life partner of 27 years Laurie Jeffers, his sister Sheri Green, his two sons, Shad (Gail) and Seth (Adriana), along with two grandchildren.
After graduating from University of Arizona in 1970, Dale began an eight-year career in the office of the solicitor of the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he handled a variety of matters for the Bureau of Indian affairs, including land claims, fishing rights disputes and bodily injury claims. Transferred to the Portland, Oregon office in 1978, Dale returned to Arizona and settled in Flagstaff in 1981. Dale served Flagstaff as an attorney in private practice for over 30 years, and continued to be a strong advocate for Native American rights. He was admitted and qualified as an attorney and counsellor of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1984. He was proud of his award winning pro-bono work on behalf of low-income people, and was well regarded among his peers.
