Hobby Lobby, chain of arts and crafts stores across the United States, appears to be set to open a location in Flagstaff.
According to records on the Coconino County Assessor’s website, a company named Rhino Holdings Flagstaff LLC purchased the land formerly occupied by Sears at the Flagstaff Mall. The sale, which shows it was completed July 31, 2019, was for $4.5 million.
The real estate investment group’s website shows Hobby Lobby as the future tenant of Sears’ former location, as well as a 5,618 square-foot space for another tenant and a plan to construct a new building in its parking lot across Marketplace Drive from Safeway’s parking lot.

Rhino Holdings website also shows it owns 24 other properties across the western United States, including in California, Washington and New Mexico. One other location in Wyoming shows a Hobby Lobby opening in January 2020, with four of the company’s locations being either former Sears or Kmart locations. Both stores closed many locations following the bankruptcy of Sears Holdings Corporation in 2018.
Flagstaff's Sears closed in late 2018.
