Charles (Gene) Eugene Kreitler Charles Eugene Kreitler, 89, passed away on January 22, 2019. He was born in Warren Ohio on April 3, 1929 growing up on a farm in Lordstown, Ohio. Gene became interested in flying at 16 years of age, and later became a certified flight instructor for light aircraft, enjoying flying as a hobby for many years. Gene graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then earned a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and proudly worked as an engineer for Douglas Aircraft Company, Sandia Corporation in Albuquerque and Sperry Flight Systems/ Honeywell in Phoenix. Gene enjoyed many hobbies such as playing French horn in a band, painting, doing puzzles, making model airplanes, square and round dancing. He played the French horn from the age of 10 and enjoyed playing in the Scottsdale Symphony Orchestra and the Sun City Concert Band. His son, Jim, and grandson, Travis, also share his love of music and play French horn as well. Gene married the love of his life Ruth Campbell in 1951 and they enjoyed 65 years together before Ruth passed in 2016. Gene is survived by 3 children (James, Beverly and Patricia), multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene enjoyed a long and fulfilling life and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held on February 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85373.
