FOOTBALL

Northern Arizona University junior cornerback Maurice Davison has been named as ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Davison's selection marks the fifth consecutive week that at least one Lumberjack has received a Big Sky Player of the Week award.

NAU (5-2, 4-0 Big Sky) has received a total of six Big Sky Player of the Week honors through the first seven games of 2017.

The junior cornerback pulled down an interception for the third time in as many games and recorded a team-leading 10 tackles (five solo, five assists), including 1.5 tackles for loss, in the win over UC Davis last Saturday.

Davison was also selected as the College Madness Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.

The No. 22/ RV Lumberjacks are home for the second straight game this weekend as they host Sacramento State (4-3, 3-1 Big Sky) in a key Big Sky Conference clash on Saturday in a 4 p.m. kickoff from the Skydome.

VOLLEYBALL

Leading the Northern Arizona volleyball team back to the .500 mark in conference play, redshirt junior Kaylie Jorgenson was named the Big Sky's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The honor is the first of Jorgenson's career and the first for the Lumberjacks this season.

Jorgenson was instrumental in NAU sweeping its Montana State-Montana road trip this past week, a pivotal move in the standings for the Lumberjacks with three games remaining the regular season. The outside hitter from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan averaged 5.00 kills per set and totaled 35 kills in the two road victories.
