Finishing the regular season ranked No. 19 in the 2A Conference, the Northland Prep Spartans (11-6, 5-5 Central Region) drew a play-in meeting with the No. 12 Arizona Lutheran Coyotes (13-4, 8-2 Metro West).

The Coyotes finished second in their region with two losses to undefeated Scottsdale Christian, while the Spartans took third in the Central behind Glendale Prep and Sedona Red Rock.

Northland Prep and Arizona Lutheran will face off at 6 p.m. in south Phoenix on Thursday. The schools met twice this season in the Payson Invitational, with the Coyotes winning 20-25, 25-19, 15-8 and 25-13, 25-18.

The winner will advance to the 2A state tournament, which will have its bracket set following Thursday's matches and begin Nov. 3 at Arcadia High School in Phoenix.


GOLF

Ranked at No. 65 entering the Division II State Championship at Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Flagstaff's Jake Davison finished tied for 55th with a total of a 163.

Shooting an 83 on Day 1 Monday, Davison improved with an 80 on Day 2. With nearly 100 golfers competing with their teams and individuals, Davison stood as the only city golfer at the championship tournament.

Blake Lopez of Sunrise Mountain won with a total of 134, while Arcadia won as a team with a 569.
