Falling to Show Low 16-8 Saturday afternoon, the Continental Little League 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars were eliminated from the District 1 tournament.
Show Low scored four runs in the first and second inning to back its pitching staff early on.
CLL chipped away as Jacob Clouse hit a solo shot and Quinn Mickelson hit a two-run home run in the first inning as a part of a three-run opening frame. Single runs scored in the second and third innings.
Despite putting runners on base while trailing, Continental left three on in the second inning, as well as runners in scoring position in the fourth and fifth innings. Jackson Hammond, Clouse and Mickelson all finished with multi-hit games for Continental.
Continental faced elimination after falling to Silver Creek Friday night in Snowflake. Falling behind 7-0 after the top of the first inning, Continental answered with five runs in its half of the innings.
However, another five runs for Silver Creek put Continental in a hole it would not climb out of. Despite recording 12 straight outs to end the game, Continental's three runs in the second inning would be the final scoring in the game.
Mickelson finished the game 2 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Caden Talley and Adrien Marquez also scored two runs each. Jacob Clouse relieved Marquez on the mound, pitching the final 5 1/3 innings.
