Not a far cry from last year's overall result, the Greenway Demons scored 46 points for the second straight season against the Coconino Panthers on the way to a victory in the Valley.
With the 46-14 loss, the Panthers, who scored 16 against the Demons a year ago, moved to 1-1 and started a span of three road games off on the wrong foot. Greenway, which managed to find the end zone on its first three drives of the game, jumped out early and led 39-7 at halftime before eventually improving to 2-0.
Panthers quarterback Ty Furr finished the second varsity start of his career with one rushing touchdown to go with one in the air and an interception. The junior signal caller took a keeper from six yards out to make it a 26-7 game in favor of Greenway with two minutes to go before the half.
Furr connected with senior Conner Wesson with about 11 minutes left in the game, but Greenway killed the clock to keep Coconino at bay.
Coconino heads to Payson to take on the 3A Conference Longhorns (0-3) next Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
