With wins against the Tuba City Warriors and Coconino Panthers in Saturday's bracket play of the annual Coconino Classic, the Flagstaff Eagles volleyball team emerged with the tournament title.

All three local schools saw their fair share of success in the Gold Bracket of the Classic, with Northland Prep beating Holbrook and Tuba City before falling to Coconino for a second time on Saturday.

The Panthers meanwhile beat the Spartans and fell to the Eagles before emerging from the losers bracket with a second win against Northland Prep. Beating Flagstaff in the first of two potential final matches, the Panthers forced the if-needed match to be played before the Eagles won the title.

All three schools will play multiple matches next week. Coconino opens Grand Canyon Region play at Lee Williams on Tuesday before hosting Cactus Shadows on Thursday. Flagstaff will do the same, playing at Mingus to start its region schedule with a home match against Lee Williams on Thursday.

Northland Prep follows a busy weekend of tournament play with a three-match week, starting Monday at home against Glendale Prep for its 2A Conference Central Region opener before a Tuesday road meeting with Winslow and a Thursday home match against Chino Valley.
