Northern Arizona junior fullback Nick Butier has been named to The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Second Team, announced by the organization Tuesday.

Butier, an All-Big Sky Second Team pick a year ago, appeared in all 12 games and garnered seven starts. He helped pave the way for former NAU Lumberjack Zach Bauman’s record-breaking season. Butier had five carries for 11 yards and caught five passes for a total of 40 yards during his sophomore season after inheriting the starting job from the graduated Jake Hess.

Other selections from the Big Sky Conference included Eastern Washington’s Vernon Adams, who was selected as the first team quarterback. The Eagles offense also placed sophomore receiver Cooper Kupp to the first team. Portland State punter Kyle Loomis was the only other member of the Big Sky to reach the first team.
