Re: Plastic bags contribute to lost time worth $1 million. Funny that Phoenix has the very same problem we addressed in Flagstaff a few years back, when the City Council was considering a ban of plastic bags, only we got shut down by the state legislature. Maybe it’s time for the State to take a closer look at this issue, which I’m sure is being experienced at any landfill where they process recycled goods.
For those of us who do recycle, it has become second nature to bring in what plastic we have (shrink-wrap, the occasional plastic bag that finds its way home with us, etc), but far too many people are still unwilling to either convert to other types of totes for their groceries, or at least to return the recyclable plastics to the grocery stores. Time to contact our representatives?
