To the editor:
I am a long-time resident of Flagstaff and pay my taxes like anyone else. I feel the ordinance forbidding left turns onto Leroux Street traveling west on Columbus Avenue should never have been implemented in the first place. It is, after all, a public and not a private street. It is unfair to ask any tax paying resident to drive out of their way wasting more gas to keep business appointments on N. Leroux just to accommodate one block of disgruntled, very vocal and evidently influential residents off what they think is "their" street. What makes them so special? Perhaps we should all petition the city to keep heavy traffic etc. off "our" streets.
With the construction on Beaver Street and the horrendous traffic jams it creates it seems the logical solution would be to allow access to N. Leroux from both easterly and westerly directions. Better yet, get rid of that No Left Turn sign for the privileged few altogether.
