YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona have arrested 15 people suspected of running a drug-smuggling operation.
Border officials in the Yuma Sector say two groups of migrants in the U.S. illegally were apprehended Tuesday.
Authorities were initially tracking six suspects from Mexico near the border before arresting them.
A search of the area turned up five two-way radios, eight cellphones, two pairs of binoculars, batteries and other equipment.
Agents seized 350 pounds (160 kilograms) of marijuana shortly after tracking another group.
They then arrested nine more people.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth $175,000.
All 15 people were turned over for immigration processing.
