Two Flagstaff men were arrested Monday night after a knife fight. According to police reports, officers were called to an apartment in the 400 block of Sitgreaves Street around 8:30 p.m. after two men started fighting.

According to police, the men started fighting in a car. The fight allegedly started when one man, sitting in the back seat, struck the other man, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.The driver pulled over in front of Flagstaff High School and the two men got out and continued to fight. The men then walked back to the apartment on Sitgreaves, where the fight proceeded. 

Roommates of the men attempted to separate them, but the two combatants then moved into the living room, where one man stopped in order to grab a knife from the kitchen. The other man also grabbed a knife and followed the first into one of the bedrooms.

While one of the roommates called the police, a second roommate tried to separate the men and was slashed in the wrist. The roommate was later taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The roommates managed to separate the men and sent one out into the parking lot. The other combatant locked himself into the bathroom.

At this point, police officers arrived. The man in the parking lot allegedly refused to answer questions from officers and was handcuffed and transported to the Flagstaff Jail.

Upon entering the apartment, officers found the other man in the bathroom and ordered that he come out. He was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center for the treatment of several bruises and lacerations to his back. He became combative with medics in the ambulance and was later booked into the jail.

It was unknown if the men were drinking, although one of the five officers that responded noted the smell of alcohol on one of the suspects' breath.

Justin Velin Sloan, 25, of Flagstaff and Gavin Edwin Jones, 29, also of Flagstaff, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault, disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.
