LaPrele Frost-Taft, Passed into the arms of God on December 18, 2017. She was born August 30, 1924, in Kanab, Utah.
She grew up in the red hills of Kanab Utah. She was the fifth of seven children born to Denzil and Beulah Frost. She spent her childhood and young adult life in Kanab, where local legend has it that she was the fastest runner in Kanab and could even outrun the boys. Her father gave her the nickname “Babe” because of the way she hit and played first base on Kanab’s girl softball team.
She cherished the special relationship that she had with her parents and always talked about how her mother taught her how to garden, can fruits and vegetables, knit, sew and crochet and the times spent riding horses, hunting and fishing with her father.
She married Reid Davis and raised three healthy children, Michael, Christine and James in Flagstaff, AZ.
LaPrele was always known for her amazing strength and hard work ethic, sense of family and was active in many community organizations through the years, serving in various capacities in the Lady Elks, Chairman of the 6th Annual Turquoise Ball in 1961, Chairman of the Arizona Heart Association in 1968 and President of the Flagstaff Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in 1969.
LaPrele retired to Scottsdale AZ., loved to travel, read, golf, taking daily walks, swimming and going to garage sales.
One of the greatest moments of her life was when she was sealed to her family for eternity in the LDS Temple in Mesa, AZ.
LaPrele is survived by her children Michael R. Davis (Roberta), Christine Mains (Ray), James W. Davis (Jacki), 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; Sister Anna Lou Reese; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Denzil and Beulah; Sisters Harriet, Marie, Helen; and brothers Mac and Kenneth.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Brookdale Senior Living facility and Vista Hospice, their loving, caring, compassionate and professional care made her final years the best they could possibly be.
Her service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4165 Lake Mary Rd. Flagstaff, AZ. Memories can condolences can be shared at www.norvelowensmortuary.com
