Julia Maria Kaczmarska Egan passed peacefully from this life surrounded by family on Monday October 30th. She was 91 years of age.
The sixth and youngest child of Michael and Sofia Kaczmarski. Julia was born in Manchester, N. H. on July 18, 1926. Upon completion of a business track in High School she soon joined her older sister Katherine in Washington D.C. where she began a career as a government office secretary. Julia enjoyed post-WWII Washington as an exciting adventure even joining the throng which welcomed back to town Harry S. Truman in 1948.
Julie met and married Joseph P. Egan of Washington in 1949 and the relocated to Flagstaff with the U.S. Naval Observatory in 1955. She was pleased to discover at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church a similar parish community to that of her childhood in Manchester. Julie joined the Altar Society and Joe joined the choir and later the parish council. Her commitment to Holy Faith was deep, praying a daily Rosary and often attending Mass. But, laying aside office work she became a devoted homemaker. Her family especially enjoyed her care for holiday and birthday celebrations. Centered on family and close friends Julia’s life became more reserved. Generous hospitality became her hallmark.
In Arizona Julia also discovered a love for nature and animals (two very spoiled puppy dogs) but every several years she returned with her husband and children to her family in New Hampshire for a summer vacation. Being nine years younger than her nearest sibling Julia was predeceased by her whole birth family and also her infant son Paul and her husband Joseph. She is survived by her only daughter Kathleen, sons: Michael, John (Paula), and Mark (Stacy). Julia, our loving mother, will be greatly missed for she was greatly loved.
Holy Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Wednesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated Thursday November 9th, 10:00 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will conclude services at Calvary Cemetery next to her beloved husband Joseph. Memories and condolences can be shared with family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com
