Donald Scott Raynsford was born on June 19, 1953 to Ira and Mary Raynsford in Putnam, Connecticut. He spent his childhood exploring and playing with his siblings and cousins in the country setting of Pomfret. As a young adult Don began his spiritual and geographic search by traveling cross country. Don first landed in North Carolina where he pursued a degree in Psychology while continuing to feed his great love of creating. During this season Don spent many hours working with wood and clay.
After living in Vermont and Massachusetts, Don and his wife, Sharon, moved to Flagstaff. Here Don worked for Flagstaff Public Schools and continued to fuel his creative spirit by working with glass and plastic.
Upon retirement Don moved to North Carolina. He most recently spent time back in Connecticut and Flagstaff where he died on October 16th, with his ever present dog, Roxy, by his side.
Don is survived by Sharon, his siblings Eileen Bates, Sandy (Ted) Hebert, Sonny (Kathy) Raynsford, David (Ellen) Raynsford, Judy (Doug) Reynolds, Bob (Chris) Raynsford, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. His deeply spiritual and kind, artistic soul will be missed by his family and friends. We love you, Don.
Bob and Chris invite you to an Open House, celebrating and remembering Don's life, on Saturday, October 28th from 1-4 PM at their home in Mountain Dell.
