Diana Marie Maxwell
November 29, 1955 to March 23, 2018
Diana Marie Maxwell of Flagstaff, AZ passed away after an extended illness on March 23 at home. Born in Flagstaff, she was the daughter of Gloria (Garrido) Maxwell and the late Elmo Maxwell. She leaves behind her husband Steve Jones; uncle Edmund Kowalski; cousins Maryanne Roberts, Sandra Kowalski, and Andrew Kowalski; and a large network of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jacinta and Juan Garrido, and Charles and Effie Maxwell; and her aunt Delphine (Garrido) Kowalski.
In her early years, Diana spent much of her time with her grandmother Jacinta who had emigrated from Spain, and so she became fluent in Spanish. She travelled to Spain to visit relatives, which she greatly enjoyed. As the daughter of the long-time Flagstaff police chief and of a mother who had an extended network of business colleagues and friends, Diana enjoyed a very exciting and fun upbringing, including the times her father would bring interesting people home for dinner -- some of them folks he had arrested, but thought well of.
Diana graduated from Flagstaff High School and studied at Northern Arizona University before moving to San Francisco for employment. She returned to Flagstaff and enjoyed a long career in the real estate industry. During the 1990s she met Steve, the love of her life, and they were married in 2002. Diana was an avid reader, an animal lover, and an excellent cook before turning the reins over to Steve.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coconino Humane Association in Diana’s name.
