Alice Mae Schreiner of Flagstaff Arizona, affectionately known as “Funky G” to family and friends, left this earth to join her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 91. Alice was born February 15, 1926 in Essex, Missouri to Earnest & Ora Simmons.
Alice spent her life caring for others. She was a nurse for 27 years, a private nanny for 7 years, and also served as a Foster Grandparent with Clark Home Head Start for a few years in Flagstaff, Arizona.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Harold (Bud), her son (Michael), her grandson (Joel) and her parents. She is survived by her children; Bill Willis (Brittany), Dale Perry, Debra Schreiner and Susan Helms; her siblings: Ernest Simmons, Jr., Ruby Fletcher, Shirley Triplett and Geraldine Fist, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Throughout her life the most important things to her were her faith, her family and friends, spending time with her grandson, Cody Yarbrough, and eating pie. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will greatly be missed.
The viewing will be held at Norvel Owens Mortuary at 914 E. Route 66, Flagstaff on Sunday, December 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Church Services will be held on Monday, December 18 at 2:00 pm at The Church of the Resurrection at 740 W. University Avenue, Flagstaff, Arizona. Alice will be laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix next to her husband.
The family is requesting you wear spring colors, as this was Alice’s favorite time of the year.
