Alan John Katte passed away on Nov. 1, 2017 in Green Valley, AZ after a long battle with cancer. He was 70 years old.
He was born May 16, 1947 in Rockford, IL to Elizabeth and Wilbert Katte. He graduated from Rockford West High School in 1965, and he attended Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University. He was married to Cynthia Dobnick in 1969. He is survived by his wife Cynthia; his two daughters and their husbands, Jill and Jamie Vermillion, and Kristin and Mel Miley; and his brothers, Glen and Bruce Katte, and their families. He was thrilled when his first granddaughter, Olivia Miley, was born in 2016.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Alan served in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of sergeant. Alan was employed by Warner-Lambert, Cleary Buildings, and the US Postal Service. He was a lifelong member of Viet-Now and Disabled American Veterans.
A memorial service will take place on Nov. 9 at 11:00 am at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation or the National Park Foundation.
