Someone vandalized the Willow Bend "Biobug."

On Thursday, Nov. 17, Willow Bend notified Flagstaff police that its unknown suspects had smashed the distinctive yellow Volkswagen Bug's windows, slashed its tires, stolen its side mirrors and headlights, destroyed its windshield wipers and caused other damage while it was parked in front of the Willow Bend Education Center, located at 703 E. Sawmill Road, the previous night sometime between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m.

The Flagstaff-based environmental education nonprofit uses the Biobug to transport its teachers and materials all over Coconino County.

Willow Bend set up a GoFundMe page to raise $2,000 for the insurance copay and paint job. It received more than $2,200 in donations in four days.

The investigation into the vandalism is ongoing.
