Heritage Square aggravated assault
A 42-year-old Tuba City man was arrested by Flagstaff police after he allegedly stomped on a man's face in Heritage Square at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a police report, a witness walked up on a man stomping on a 28-year-old Kaibeto man behind some landscaping in the square.
When police arrived, a nurse was attending to the victim, who was non-responsive, covered in blood and appeared to be having trouble breathing.
The suspect told police that he was fighting with the victim because the victim had punched him in the face the night before and stolen his jacket.
Gary Michael Carr was booked into the Coconino County jail on charges of aggravated assault resulting in serious physical injury.
Flagstaff police were called to Benton Avenue on Thursday morning for a report of a man passed out in an alley.
When they arrived, officers found a man asleep and surrounded by partially empty bottles of alcohol. As he awoke, the man allegedly lied to officers about his name and then asked if he could urinate where he was standing.
When the officer told him it was a crime, the man turned around and proceeded to urinate. He was taken into custody and then said he was suffering from a number of health ailments when he got to the Coconino County jail.
The report went on to state the man was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment, but became aggressive with officers and hospital staff when he got there, allegedly threatening an officer's family and then assaulting a security guard.
The report also said he assaulted a detention officer when he was taken back to jail.
Gabriel Rodgers, 29, of Fredonia, is being charged with aggravated assault on a corrections officer, assault, disorderly conduct, urinating in public and failure to provide his truthful name.
Storage unit break-ins
Two break-ins were reported at the AAA Discount Self Storage of Arizona on the 500 block of North Grant Street on Wednesday.
-- A man told police that that he checked his storage locker on Wednesday and found that the lock had been broken off and items had been stolen. A Dell Inspiron laptop, Samsung 27-inch TV with a DVD/VHS combo player, Samsung Surround Sound stereo system, various power and mechanical tools and a black briefcase containing personal documents were all stolen. A number of personal checks were also stolen and forged.
The man said he believed the lock had been popped off and likely accessed multiple times.
-- An NAU student reported that he and his roommates had left their belongings in a storage locker for the summer so they didn't have to move them and returned to find the locker had been burglarized.
A black and white Burton snowboard, 32-inch Vizio flat-screen TV and an XBox 360 were all stolen from the locker.
The victims told police they believe the break-in happened sometime in July.
Charged with DUI
-- Dada Vutra, 29, of Houston, was arrested by Flagstaff police and charged with DUI at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday.
