A pair of roommates found their Flagstaff apartment burglarized over the weekend.
According to the police report, the victims reported the burglary at their home in the 300 block of South San Francisco Street around 3:15 p.m. Sunday. The roommates told officers they made sure to lock all their doors and windows before heading out on a camping trip the previous day around 1 p.m. When they returned, they found the front deadbolt and all the windows unlocked. Some of their belongings were lying on the floor and the residence was filled with boxes and bags of their belongings, as if the burglars were planning to return for more loot.
Among the items stolen were a 250 pound gun safe, a rifle, school books, a television, a bike, a guitar, multiple laptops, other electronic devices and an unknown amount of clothing.
Officers determined the unknown suspect entered the home through a window with a faulty lock. They appeared to have left through the back yard gate. Officers found drag marks consistent with the stolen gun safe on the ground behind the residence.
Police kept a close eye on the house after the burglary was reported to make sure the suspects would not return for the other they left in the house. The investigation is ongoing.
