The Flagstaff Police Department released a description of a suspect today who officials say assaulted a female jogger five days ago in the area of Izabel Street and Sixth Avenue. Police officials say that officers will now be increasing their presence on the urban trail system in response.

According to information from police, the woman had just finished her jog on April 28 and was walking back to the trailhead when a man attacked her from behind.

The woman started screaming and was able to fight him off. The suspect ran northwest on the trail, which continues up McMillan Mesa. The case is being investigated as an attempted sexual abuse.

The man is described as a Hispanic or Native American male, between 5-feet, 10-inches and 6-feet tall and between the ages of 20 and 25. He was wearing long black athletic shorts and a white short sleeve shirt and had a medium build and with short, black spiked hair.

Officials are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Flagstaff Police Department at 774-1414 or coconinosilentwitness.org.
