After opening for cross country skiing this week for the first time this season, the return of warm weather is forcing Arizona Nordic Village to switch gears. With snow melting fast skiing will become difficult, so the Nordic Village will be opening up its property to snowplay this weekend. Usually the area is closed to snowplayers to protect the ski and snowshoe trails.

Snowplay will be allowed Friday through Monday and vehicles will be charged $20 each for access to the ski area, as well as movies in the warming hut. The snack bar will be open for hot chocolate, coffee and snacks and there will be a bonfire.

Hours for the holiday weekend are 8 a.m to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
