The National Weather Service has updated its forecast for today, which now calls for 2 to 4  inches of snow in Flagstaff before the storm moves out Tuesday morning.

Heaviest snow will fall on the North Kaibab, where 5 to 9 inches is predicted.

Winds will gust up to 40 mph in the I-40 corridor today before calming down tonight.

Skies will partially clear later Tuesday into Wednesday before another cold front starts to move through Wednesday night through early Friday. The Weather Service says this storm track will be slightly warmer, with snow potentially only reaching down to 7,500 feet at the start and total accumulations in Flagstaff of 1 to 2 inches.

Sunday 10 p.m.: Chilly, wet week ahead for Flagstaff

Flagstaff’s near-record run of dry weather this winter will come to an end this week as a series of storm fronts brings light rain and snow to northern Arizona.

The National Weather Service in Bellemont says skies will begin to cloud up early Monday morning, with a 30 percent of snow showers and light rain after 5 a.m. in Flagstaff. It will be breezy, with winds gusting to 33 mph.

Tuesday could see a break in the clouds, but more snow showers and rain are due to return Wednesday night through Friday.

Highs all week will hover around 40 degrees, with below-freezing temperatures at night.
