A man on a bicycle died today when he and a garbage truck collided on Butler Avenue at the recycling center. The accident happened at about 11:15 a.m.
The cyclist has been identified as Joshua Amos Pete, 23, of Flagstaff.
Investigation so far indicates that after the garbage truck and the bicyclist collided, Pete became attached to the truck and was dragged some distance before the truck came to a stop. Pete was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m.
It is still unknown who, if anybody, was at fault in the collision, said Sgt. Michael Terrin of the Flagstaff Police Department.
One westbound lane on Butler Avenue was closed for several hours while the FPD accident reconstruction team and detectives worked the investigation.
The investigation is continuing, Terrin said.
