Blood collected from drives like this go to meet needs statewide, including those of 7-year-old Flagstaff resident Avari Askew, who needs blood transfusions every month because of a rare blood disorder, Diamond Blackfan Anemia. Because her body cannot produce its own red blood cells, Avari recently had her 68th blood transfusion. Avari relies on the kindess of strangers to keep her alive!

It takes about 900 blood donations each day to meet the needs of patients in United Blood Services Southwest Division, which includes Arizona and Southern Nevada, and be ready for unexpected events.
