Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort received two honors last week.
The casino has been recognized as the top-designed Native American Casino Facility in the nation at this week’s G2E (Global Gaming Expo) Conference.
The Friedmutter Group of Las Vegas, which designed the structure in collaboration with Navajo tribal members, and JBA Consulting Engineers, which led the active systems engineering, submitted an entry for the facility that showcases Navajo culture and original artworks throughout the property.
G2E’s Casino Design Awards recognize excellence in architecture, design, engineering and construction. gnized as the top Native America Casino Facility for both for its design and engineering.
In addition, the casino is the first construction project on the Navajo Nation to be awarded the prestigious Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Certification for safety excellence in the workplace.
The VVP-Star is the highest accreditation that any company can earn for safety standards through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and was achieved in collaboration with the project’s general contractor Hunt Construction Group.
Hunt also a VVP Star Contractor, and the only contractor in Arizona recognized by ADOSH, (Arizona Department of Safety and Health) to be allowed to fly the VPP Star flag on every construction project in Arizona. Out of more than 31,000 employers in the state of Arizona, only 34 are permitted to fly the VPP-Star flag.
